Long ago, Samun accepted that the Fires intended for him to be single. He’s too direct, too literal, too focused. That doesn’t mean he hasn’t felt a pang of longing as each member of his kif met their mates and started building families of their own. He’s thankful for his kif. Otherwise, he’d always feel on the outside how he feels on the inside—alone.
Still, Samun was as excited as the others to return home to M’Asra. But while they were away, their home was attacked and their people are on the run. Matters of the heart have never been his strong suit, nor is explaining his feelings to his family, but he’ll have to learn to do both, or risk losing everything.
